well, I've searched for an array of attenuators on ebay for my first tube project... It looks like 100K attenuators are a standard pot of choice ??

Although, for the McCurdy AU300 project, seems like this tubepre needs much higher values for full gain control, it's a firebreathing animal !

Any thoughts of what I should use ?

McCurdy schematic... notice the gain will not go below 40db with 250K attenuator.
