Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on exactly what the output transformers in the Neve 33609 compressor are. Are they different from what's in alot of the Neve mic pre's and also is there anything out on the market today that is comparable? Thanks.

Hi, you can use anything that brings the level up a bit¨. Let´s say turn
ratio 1:1,5 or as in the 33... 1:2,5 . That gives you 8 dB more.
If your not making a clone and have more rail supply, +30 or +36V
(+- 15 or ,+-18V ) then you can use a normal 1:1 Tx.
If you read between the lines.. I bought a N*eve Prism modul once
and thought the micpre sounded ugly.. guess what input Tx they put in?
Yes the T*F10015 . Ringing problem was just one of the reasons! I´m
not impressed of those at all. Try Lundahl,Jensen,Profile or Joe M
in Aussie. Cheers Bo

The limiter sidechain is taken before the 1:2,5 ratio transformer, without the 8dB diffrencies between the output and sidechain feed the threshold steps won't lineup.
