I'm thinking about sum difference boxes..... I'm wondering if the same box could not only process mid/side mic arrays, as in two inputs, and sum/difference outs..... but possibly also include two sum/difference returns that will create the original again on a pair outputs.

I guess it could be pretty easily done with transformers passively (expensive), but I'm wondering if there are schematics around for an active (maybe even discrete?) version.

Could be pretty darn cool. I just don't know anything about designing circuits. Just think it would be neat.... have wanted to try out mid side stuff for a while. Just don't have a mixer. And when I did, it was a mackie 8bus with no polarity switches (biggest reason I sold it)

There have been various threads & schematics around here, searching for MS or mid, side will show them.

Or just start soldering right away: http://www.uneeda-audio.com/#ms :thumb:

Hmm.... interesting stuff to read into. I had stumbled across that last link last night actually, it was very helpful. What I've realized I'm talking about isn't anything special however.... I realized that I was only talking about makeing two matrices..... that way it goes xy in, ms out, ms in, xy out, or viceversa.

Thats whats beautiful... the same box can do xy->ms and ms->xy, right?
