EDN had an article today about Bob Pease coming up with a difinitive test for capacitors and also a new opamp especially for high quality audio. Here's a link to the opamp:

It's nice to have alternatives to the usual chips.

I believe someone brought that IC up recently in another thread. It looks like a good part although I'm using ADSL-intended ICs for new audio designs. Some of the chips are cheaper than the "audio" ICs being sold.

Mbira was kind enough to hook me up with some samples, but I haven't gotten around to trying them out yet... Too many irons in the fire.

They are now available in small quantities from distributors, at least when I checked weeks ago. Price was high-ish but not scandalous.

I remember the days of spending 15 bucks for a 709, if you could find one, and having it die instantly if you looked at it the wrong way.
When the 1034 and later re-numbered 5534 came out, they were close to 8 bucks a pop. That's the price you pay to be the first kid on the block to have one.

Amen...

Anybody remember feed forward compensation on old LM301s?
