Hello all,
I have 4 Collins 6P mic pre's and need to know what voltages are needed to make it go. The power input strip is marked B+, B-, 6.3, 6.3 and M. Schematics would be nice too.
Anyone had experience using these? Are they studio quality pre's?
Thanks for the help.

sure, just sell them to me. I'll take care of it.

I have one. They are for B+ 180VDC @ 6mA. Have relatively low max output (catalog lists -15 dbm), and fixed gain of either 35 or 45 db, depending on internal gain strapping. No volume control. Will overload with most modern usages, but good in a low output mic situation that's then feeding another gain stage that can reach modern output levels.

Sorry to bring this thread back up after so long.

Whats up with the character of these things? Do they sound good? I could only assume yes from a vintage piece of collins gear. I have compressors that have input gain..  I don't see this thing being a huge problem. I mean, would I be losing top end from the impedence issue?

What if I added an output attenuation pot and a bigger o/p xfrmr?

They are terrible, especially that one on ebay.  I don't understand your last 2 questions.
