.. I have the nice UA 6176 front panel ( real with all pots/switches/knobs )
from Ebay and I'm getting ready to stuff it, having found a 2U rack body that
will fit.
I have an 1176 board and most parts for that section.

Original pre would be a 610, with a low/Hi eq and stepped gain pot/level pot
plus DI and some other 48v/phase etc switches in situ.
I don't have to use all available controls, but the Eq may be useful ?

Any ideas ?
Something I could do on Tag strip/Veroboard would be fine.
Thanks,

Marty.

There's obviously none round then
I was thinking perhaps a MILA pre might be nice.

I'm beginning to think that I've said something wrong around here ... or
perhaps I just smell ....

Well I have enough parts for the MILA just about but will need the correct
mains traffo and a few extra bits, so I guess I'll need $100
Is this what you mean ? :?

hey Martymart,
why don't you do the 610? I'm pretty sure the schematics are somewhere. did you check waltzingbear?
I guess that would be where your budget problems kick in, like do you want to pay for all the transformers i/o and psu that you would need to do it.

also not sure how you would deal with the interstage- I imagine you would just go unbalanced in between the 610 and the 1176 but you may need sopme interstage trafo to get it all happy.
good luck

Yes, I'll have to think about that, they should be able to be used as separate
circuits and there's a "link" switch on the front which I presume just moves
the balanced out of the 610 to the in of the 1176.
IIRC it's a 4PDT switch.
The 610 doesn't get good "press" around here though, that's why I thought
one of New York Dave's would be a good choice.

There's also been some posts recently related to an RCA circuit and don't forget to look at the redd (reminds me I should finish mine) that one's secreted away... IRC you might search for r*e*d*d* something like that

Here you go:

you got a 610 panel, do a 610 by hand with closer attention to boutique parts selection and see if you can top the official product. Word is the real thing kicks the crap out of the repro, so chase that dragon's tail.....

Note that a single plate out  tube stage will invert the signal ,
i think part of the decision is whether to go with feedback style
gain control or attenuation between stages
both with some + /-'s

[ and dam you i remember when those plates
were being auctioned to U.K. only  ! ]
