Varimu question: possible to replace gas tube in remote cutoff plate supply?

Hi,

Is it possible to replace the usual gas tube for 108V supply to the plates of the remote cut-off tubes with a Zener diodes ladder?
Has anyone tried this out?

Which particular vari-mu circuit are you talking about?

There are several circuuits using the gas tubes.
ua 175, 176, cca, sta-level.
I was thinking in particular at the gates.
