I finally got around to plotting the triode curves for a "vintage" German-made Sylvania 6267, an Electro Harmonix EF86EH, and the reissue Tungsol EF806. I found it interesting comparing these curves with some of the other tubes that are commonly used in condenser microphones. The lines are spaced at 0.5v grid voltage increments.

The Sylvania 6267:

The EH EF-86EH:

The gain in a triode configuration appears to be around 20.

Nice work.

I had an RCA BA-2A once (pair of 6J7/1620 in triode) that had both tube sockets replaced, and filled with triode EF86's for some reason.  No component changes whatsoever, and it behaved as a BA-2A should in all regards.
