Just ran across this while searching for a good price on a KSM32.

Has anyone done testing on the raw capsule?

I've found the KSM32 to be a solid mic for many sources.
Is it the capsule that's special or the electronics?

I'm guessing the answer isn't that simple.

Probably a combination of capsule, circuit and physical design of the chassis and grill that sum together to make a nice mic.

Do you DIY guys do anything with this capsule?

It's probably worth noting that this capsule is an electret.

Might be really good if you could find a suitable mount.

Sorry, shameless plug. ;D

For a few bucks more you can buy my complete KSM32.

It's in the black market.

Huh, thanks for pointing that out.
So no polarizing current needed.

I was thinking of the scott dorsey/schoeps circuit but I guess that's out.

I need to look at the KSM32 schemo I guess.
