In the process of racking my pair of Langevin Am-16's I managed to smoke Q7  :'(

The manual states that these are part # 1401 2N3053 (equiv), I pulled out Q7 to check and
it's part # 1103 instead. There's a addendum that says older versions used a TI-487 in this spot
with no mention of the Langevin part # equivalent.

I'm curious if that's what I'm staring at; a TI-487?  Langevin #1103.

Or should I just call it a day and replace them with 2N3053's?

Anyone know?

Mark

3053 will be fine.

This unit isn't fussy about its transistors.

Oh! AFAIK, the TI- parts were all black epoxy, the 2N3053 was always metal can.

The 1103 number is so Langevin could get a deal on less expensive transistors (it does not need all 2N3053 specs) and not have pages of substitution numbers to confuse assemblers and field techs.
