Having heard this in mono block amps, and noticing a lot of kits out there I was wondering if this is used in designs you guys build around here.  C*ry *udio amps kill me every time I hear them at CES.

Check out various threads on New York Dave's MILA and One-Bottle preamps. The One-Bottle is essentially a feedback pair of single-ended triodes; the MILA adds a stage of single-ended triode with no global feedback at the head end.

Peace,
Paul

oh, audiophiles. I don't know why but "single ended" in audiophile circles seems to always mean that the plates are direct-coupled to specialised single ended output transformers. And in that case those NYD designs do not qualify as the plates are cap-coupled to output transformers.

But this does qualify: http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=38252.0

A true gem for a design, but quite expensive because it needs such a special output transformer.

ok so it's a parafeed. still it's SE ..

There are also the SE pentode output stages like in the Neve tube mixer.
Pentode is inline with the B+ fed gapped transformer

Kind of like a pentode version of the neve ba283av

I have thought parafeed means there is a plate choke or some other kind of CCS. NYD only has a "dumb" resistor.

semantics, schmemantics

Parallel feed refers to any case where B+ comes through something other than the transformer.
