After doing some research  on the boards...I m still kind of lost and have a few questions!! Hope some of you guru's know how to help me

Q#1- Output transformer from sowter... I got the 1968 reproduction...it has two wires off of the primary..and then two off of the secondary...then a wire to the ferrite core which goes to Ground...
* which side of the transformer goes to the tb#2? The primary side or secondary?

( I want to state that I think the secondary goes to the TB#2 but since I dont know, I better ask!!

Q#2-  I have been having some problems with my Variable capacitors-I 2 variable caps from Circuit specialists- Problem was, they did not have any of the 50-380 caps I was looking for....(( what they did have-which I bought, was "2"  40~280 pf vari caps... BUT...measuring them on my meter, has never worked= they just dont measure and cause my meter to go out of range?  Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the help guys!

Do you know the transformer model number? Is it the Sowter type 1010? http://www.sowter.co.uk/specs/1010.htm
Then:
Gray/White are off the secondary and go to the tb#2 (as labelled on the '68 Teletronix schematic).
Red/Yellow are off the primary.
Black goes to ground.
The output transformer on a tube amp will always be a step-down.

What meter do you have? Check its ratings; it might not be able read so low. I vaguely recall the adjustable caps (C4, C7, and that in series with C6 being quite replaceable with fixed caps or being somehow expendable. CJ distilled the LA-2A awhile back; does anyone have that schematic? I think that's a few dead computers behind me  :(

Hopefully you're already in LA-2A bliss! Sorry that no-one replied sooner. Must have been a crazy few days of posting?  :-\ If you had worked out the solution, you should give the beginners behind you a break and bump your post with the answers you found.

Happy DIY'ing (and music-making)!

The Arco 465 variable cap is commonly replaced with a 150pF/500v mica cap in C4.  The other, C14, can be replaced by a 330pF.  Some people skip C14 altogether (and the re-issue doesn't have one either).
