Has anyone had any experiences with one of these units? I have been offered one at a reasonable deal.
Any opinions would be really appreciated, especially regarding maintenance etc.
Cheers!

Changing pickups in the BX20 is hell.

Make sure that it has been treated decently, ie. not been mounted in a mobile studio. Tried that.

The way to check this is adjusting the decay time to the extremes, and making sure that the decay time is approximately the same in both channels. If one is way off, you surely have a problem.

The manuals and schematics are available at berklee:

..But both the BX10 and the BX20 are very good reverbs indeed. Love them for vocal and guitar..

Hi Jakob,
It's a BX20e but there is a problem with one channel so I shall proceed with caution.
Thanks for the link.

Hi Stewart,

I have a BX25 and it's GREAT, strange but good sounding. I guess the BX20 is the same good. So if you can get it cheap enough ('cause it's not o.k.) you should get it and live happy with just one channel. I wouldn't pay more than 90 Euros though.

Chris

Can someone please update that manual/schematic link
I can´t seem to get access to it right now.

Thanks!

Zeb,

It's a "character" reverb. Don't pay too much for it, specially if it's not 100% tickety-boo.

We auditioned one new, -back in the day- but never bought it, because next to an EMT plate it just couldn't hang. -Nice for a certain 'occasinoal character' but that's all.

AKG has the manual up on their website, so you can find it there.

My BX20E leaks dry signal onto the output of channel 1. I've swapped the audio cards over so its not an electronic problem, and I replaced one of the spring ends that was out of tolerance (Jakob, you're right about that, it took about 7 hours!) and the problem persists, but to a lesser degree. Anyone know what might cause that, or know of a tech with extensive experience with these units in the UK?

Cheers,
Daniel.
