finished a new song, and was wondering if the overall sound is too " muffled " -
i've been doing a lot of passes to a 1/4 inch studer on 7.5 speed -
like printing the BD than snare, than guitar, than bass,etc..
now the tape (on 7.5) cuts a lot of the high frequency's so i pushed some highs on the master buss

what do you think?

Thanks for your help here guys,
the drums are a combo of recorded and samples.

I don't think it sounds 'good for the genre'.

I think it just sounds 'good...and i think the lead singer is pretty cute.

Thanks people! :)

yes, im part of the band - this whole project is very DIY based - its all made at home by myself ....-
so if i want a self pat on the shoulder -
microphones,preamps,compressors,e.q's,guitar amps,etc..than - arranging,playing guitars, bass, drums,keys,etc.. recording,mixing,mastering
than filming the vid, than editing the vid

thats a lot of work for one person(time) but managable...
where i get to a brick wall is with the PR/marketing....probably could be done DIY - but too much for me.

The imaging is a little over the top.  The horns disappear in mono.

Other than that, sounds good.

Vocal recording chain:
the mic is skylar's u47 body with dale's M7 capsule and  EF40 tube, preamp is a red47 type clone and comp
was LA2a clone - so all tube! also the main vox track is one of the few tracks that didnt got passed through the studer
this mic really stands out of other mics i have/had/used.it dosent have a big or deep low end ,but for vocals it gets used all
the time.

the brass does allmost disappear in mono - i didnt check mono while mixing...:-(
thanks for pointing that out
