I was wondering: Since the 991 uses the same capsule as the MXL SP-1, would
it benefit to try to up the polarization voltage to +60VDC, just like Jim Williams recommends
on the SP-1? To get a higher S/N ratio? It's quite easy to do, maybe I should just try it
and see if I like it.
And do you guys think I should also try replacing the 2SK170GR with the J305?
The J305 is the "faster" FET that Jim Williams recommended for the SP-1. This
would be a bit more work to install, but I've already got the correct bias resistors
for my batch, so not terribly hard.
