Hi all,

It has been a year since I posted about my coming tube synths. To cut the long story short I sold the first batch very easily and thought that they would be ready before summer. Well, they were not, but now the first is ready and the other 7 are almost ready too.
I also played my first gig in 9 years with the prototype in the summer. I should have had the production unit ready, but eventually could not finish it early enough.

Since there is a lot of info and more pictures in facebook about the synth (Knifonium) I don't want to load Group Diy too much with things, but let me post one picture.

Oh, forgot, there is a mix of all kinds of sounds and (n)early music on my sound cloud account.

These two are from the production unit. Other stuff was made with the pro to, which has somewhat different filter sound.

That looks and sounds extraordinary Jonte, I really really want one (but mastering engineers and synths are probably a bad combination).

Have you got any pictures of the inside you can share?

Also will this be a product that you will sell? I have some friends and clients here in L.A. for whom something like this is actually possible.

The wood is highly figured Oregon black walnut.

We do plan to make another set of 6 instruments in a year or so. Too many projects, so little time, and these are a lot of trouble to build.

I've had the domain knifonium.com for a year now, but I'm still waiting "someone" to actually build the site. Since I sold the first batch so fast I didn't particularly need the site anymore, but perhaps I'll now hire someone to build it to get more visibility if needed. But anyhow it will be the facebook page which now will contain all relevant updates.

Two instruments from the first batch were actually sold to a well known synth freak movie composer in L.A. Perhaps we'll some day hear the sounds in one of his scores. I'll certainly let the world know about it if that happens :D

I'll take some more pictures in the near future.

I have a feeling he might be a client of mine....

Very nice, reminds me of an upright piano look , with a clean layout
what voltage are the tube run at ? how many does it take ?
what do you feel is the amount of their contribution to the sound quality ?
Hope it does well for you .

Voltages are +200, +120 and -100 (heater:2*6.3AC, one at 120V and 2*12V DC, one at 120V. )
-100 is used for differential pair tails.
Tubes' contribution to sound is big, but don't forget transformers either, there are a lots of them in the signal path.

youtube ?

peace
R.
