Hi,

I'm wandering if anyone could help me with a very long and complicated problem I have.
I have 2 Neumann km84s and a u47 which I've bought recently and they all make clicks. I know statistically that seems like an impossibility but I've been testing for months now and I've tried many different converters, preamps, computers, cables, electrical circuits over 3 different studios. I can even use my apogee duet powered off the dc battery power of my laptop to power the km84s and I still get clicks.
I'm fairly certain the clicks on the km84s are something different to the u47 because they sound different. They are not a clocking thing but rather seem like something electrical discharging. They happen about once or twice an hour which makes it very difficult not only to test but also for me to send them to a technician because sometimes the clicks are very quiet and easy to miss. So I'm afraid I might end up paying a tech just for them to tell me there's nothing wrong with them.
If someone could explain how I can upload examples of the clicks maybe someone might be able to shed some light on the situation for me.
This is a basic summary of the situation, if anyone has any questions I'll be happy to answer.
Thanks for reading and for any help.

Hi George.

I have the sound files that you sent me so I will upload and link for you in a moment. I have sent you my thoughts but would be interesting to hear what others suggest.

Thanks Stewart!
The U47 also makes a different click more similar to the one you can hear on the km84 but normally higher pitched.
What's the easiest way to show samples on forums?
Cheers.

IMHO ,
the U47 the clicks comes from the tube , we can hear the glass frequency very well

on the other one KM84  it seems to be the capsule or Dirt on HZ section or the Phantom power filterings caps,

just my 2 cents,

>the U47 the clicks comes from the tube , we can hear the glass frequency very well

That was my first thought.

Do you mean pictures? You should be able to attach a file to your post, but you may need to have posted some number of times before you can do so.

No I mean audio samples. Stewart very kindly posted these examples for me but I have some more which I would like to post.
Thanks for the replies.

Hi George,
You need to upload to some kind of web space to do it. If you don't have any storage then just mail them across to me and I'll do it for you.
