Hey, guys.  I'm working on putting together some drum triggers, but I can't figure out what kind of rubber I should use.  Anybody know what they use in the cheaper electronic kits?  Basically, I'm looking for something with the right amount of bounce, tough enough for moderate gigging, and preferably something I could mold.

Thanks fellas,
Christian

If you're worried about the feel even a little bit, I'd skip straight to the mesh head and foam cone approach. Bounce is tension-variable like the real thing. There are tons of DIYs out there, I followed and made an entire kit with 2-ply heads out of SuperScreen. Bought nice foam cones off ebay almost as cheap as one could poorly attempt one themselves. I'll tell you right now that viscoelastic foam cuts for absolute crap, name your tool.
In the end materials cost ends up a bit higher, but imo well worth it.
