I made a new mic, cast in bronze. It's been quite a challenging thing to model and cast. It is super tough, no flex can be produced with finger power to the grid.

Looks nice reminds me somewhat of an older post

have you installed a circuit and capsule to test how it sounds/EQs the capsule?

Wow, that's really a unique and beautiful design! It looks like a mic from a Jules Verne movie.

was nice to see it in person. can you comment on the circuit that you used on it? you haven't posted your harpishord/stringsection (omniwerk?) here isn't?

Thank you all for nice words.
Power supply is for two mics, and there will be pairs made, sure.
Here is the inner construction. Three PCB spacer towers keep thick PCBs nicely in line. Bottom block is NC machined from brass and takes a standard Neutrik XLR inside. Saddle is also an NC machined piece of brass. There is some extra space and I intend to use a bit more exotic coupling cap next time. Then it will be very tight fit.

there you go, I didn't want to be the first to say it looks a little torpedo / cigar ish
as magnificent as it is! Nice work ! Art all by itself  [ inside detail looks just as good. ]

I'm actually planning to build a stereo mic with a coincident/native-B capsule array... I really wish I could use something like this for the cage. -the pattern would just need to be 'extended' a little further, though...

Did you 3D-print the master?

The model for this mic was produced with NC machining from model wax and aluminum. 3D printing will be used for the next batch. The cost is roughly equal but obviously printing makes it possible to produce the whole model in one, i.e. no need for separate inner and outer models. For single pieces I would recommend wax print master, but it is not cheap when done with good accuracy. When the aim is to cast more than 2 pieces, it no more makes sense to print the wax directly, and an intermediate model is needed, which then is copied through silicon castings.  This phase is the really difficult one.

I'm about to build a second version of this (Native B-format) microphone using AKG CEK-12 capsules, and would LOVE to have a case which would do it justice... would you think the grille would be tall enough to allow both capsules to 'see' the outside world?
