I´m about to finish a build that´s been sitting on a shelf for ages, an 8 channel Micpre made from 8 PM2000 channelstrips.
I´m going to power it from a JLM Powerstation.
My question is about grounding.
I´ve connected the pin 1 on all the inputs on the channelstrips to the chassies of each strip, and to the cable going to the PSU.
I thought this would be a neat way to get the metalwork on the strips grounded.
But when I look at the schematic on the Power Station I notice that there is a point called "Star Point"
And this point is 10hms from ground, and is meant to be used as audio ground.
Questions are:
1. Should I separate the chassie on the strip from pin 1?
2. If I do, what happens when I connect the strip to another piece of equipment that has the shield(Pin1) connected straight to ground?
3. Do I need to run a different grounding wire from the chassie of the PSU to the Chassie of the channel strips?
