Anyone have any experience of Badel toroid transformers made in Poland? I recently purchased a mains toroid from a German supplier because, as well as 270V at 80mA, it also has a 14VAC at 2A winding which is ideal for 12V regulated heater supplies. When I got it, the label on the side said it was made by Badel, hence my interest.

I know a couple manufacturers in Poland, but had no previous knowledge of Badel.
They claim on the website that their xfrmrs are based on German designs (whatever this means), it looks like they're a winding subcontractor. So, if the one you bought was made for that specific supplier you shouldn't worry.
This said, Badel are  capable to wind any transformer you want provided you can give them very exact specs and winding scheme.
One must be very specific about is safety norms and CE declaration of compliance. Check for EN standard number on the label.
The other "problem" you might encounter is some manufacturers make savings by minimizing winding wire diameter i.e. allowing for much higher current density than generally accepted 2.5A/mm². I've seen some going as high as 5A/mm². This of course affects load regulation significantly.
For my own toroids, I design them myself, specify max 2A/mm² and supply detailed winding schemes.

It seems I´ve got the identically speced transformer through musikding.de, made by Badel. Unfortunately it arrived defective. The 270V winding spits out 150V only. On top of that the mounting hardware was incomplete, the epoxy core was drilled wrong and the core material is so weak, they must have forgotten to use enough hardener. No way will I ever get a transformer from Badel again. Back to german engineering: http://www.mueller-rondo.com/

Very useful info, thanks. Mine also can from musikding but I have not tried it yet. The mounting screw was missing too. The only reason I was interested in it was because it had a 14VAC secondary. Looks like one to be avoided.

It's funny, the company is near to my home town but the first time I heard about it here :)
It doesn't look any special like many other companies which are manufacturing oem transformers.
I'm using mostly transformers from the other polish company which I highly recommend - really high quality:
