no it's not batman's psychological problems.

i want to build a mobile green pre, mainly for field recording with gun mic.
how could i modify it to work on batteries power,
does two 9v batteries strait to the pcb will do, or does it need higher voltage and regulators, or some other options?

Green or Green MkII ?

Green was fine on 4 9V batts as per my diagrams.
Additional Batts for phantom.
Batt life is fair to good with one module.

or Green MkII

is that the new rev. pcb with the meters on board?, i thought on the version thats is on peter page, it's fine for this project, since i dont want to draw too much current, by using led meter, wich i have on the md recorder .
so +-18v from batts is fine i guess, thanks kev.

I could give you the answer ...
but

check the PDF files for the op-amps and look for MAX voltage
IF it is above 18 volts then the double 9 V Batts will be fine
save the PDF files for future reference

The Green MkII is more complex with more op-amps and ICs so it will such more current from the Batts and therefore have shorter battery life
