Hi

I am looking  for a relative encoder that behaves and feels like a rotary switch.

Must have hard detents and ideally around 30º between positions. Has to be endless, obviously.

In other words an endless '12pos switch' relative encoder... if that makes sense  ::)

Does this even exist?

Thanks!

edit: I guess I could modify a 2 deck 12 pos switch into a relative encoder but I am not too sure about the Make before break configurations and all that jazz.

I guess I should explain a bit more:

I am trying to build a MidiBox EQ based on a API 550B plugin. This would reflect the EQ settings on whichever channel is selected in your DAW.

(Those are LED with labels on top )

The encoder I just described would be ideal for this application because one change of position of the switch/encoder would equate to a jump to the next freq band or next gain setting, in a 1:1 fashion.

Does this make sense?

Google stepped rotary encoder.

Thanks! Just what I needed. Has a switch too!

Is there a dual concentric version of this by chance?

Check Alpha (or Grayhill/Elma etc) web site but obtaining in small quantities might be another matter.

How do you debounce a regular rotary switch?

In the same way as you do a normal one. Hardware or software. Hundreds of examples on the net.
