Complementing Focusrite Scarlett Mic Pres

Hi Folks,

I'm currently setting up a small home studio for preproduction and songwriting. I'm thinking of getting a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 to use as my interface.

Initially, I was going to make a couple of ThatMic pres to use for additional inputs however I'm now thinking that it might be better if I had something that will give me a different, contrasting sound, and that the ThatMic Pres might sound too similar to the Scarlett's mic pres.

ATM, I'm thinking that either an EZ1290 or a simple tube preamp like the OneBottle might be the way to go.

Any suggestions welcome.

Look at the Classic API stuff.

What I would consider if I where you:
Capi vp28, Lola, 73-preamps like ez1073, JLM Baby Animal
But of course, lot of options

Lots of options is the problem!

API clones are useful for almost everything, sound great, are cheap ish to build and easy (safer than tube stuff).

I also have a Focusrite Scarlett (but 18i6). I´ve just build the Pultec MB-1 as an additional preamp. It sounds great with the scarlett interface.
