Hi,

I'm looking for someone who could repair a microphone of mine ( Neumann BCM 104). The issue is during recording there is an electrical hum in the background. Thanks

I would first check your cables / connectors before suspecting the mic. From the pre-amp to the recording device / interface also, if they are separate.

Otherwise, for repair in the UK try Dave Way at Funky Junk.

Ta,
Matt.

Yes, it will most likely be a cable or connector issue.

For current production Neumann I would send it to Sennheiser UK, failing that I recommend Stewart Tavener at Xaudia, he has repaired mics for several friends on my recommendation and is quick, thorough and affordable.

It's almost inconceivable that a microphone which doesn't have a power supply could produce a hum...

It has to be something external to the microphone, surely?

A buzz (lack of shielding) I could understand, but not a hum, unless it's close to a serious AC-mains-driven magnetic field, and that really counts as something external to the microphone.
