I am just repairing a Zoom H1 and noticed that the back of the microphone capsule mounts are hollow. Would there be any benefit in filling those cavities with some foam? What would it do to the sound?
The mount is a small cylindrical tube with a tiny hole from the microphone capsule section for the wires to go through the cavity.
