I mentioned the bank being busted for cross-selling a couple days ago.. here http://groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=63835.msg807986#msg807986

By the time they have the congressional dog and pony show this is old news.  I don't think throwing thousands of low level workers under the bus will satisfy the public's desire for a pound of flesh. I expect the CEO and and at least one other high level executive are toast... they are right in Elizabeth Warren's wheel house for big bank criticism sound bites.

warren did a lot of saber rattling yesterday, so much so that even people who don't like her were impressed.  In the end I really wonder how much beating of her chest will get anywhere....

She was responsible for the CFPB (consumer finance protection bureau) that she proposed and established under the Dodd-Frank legislation. This new dept is funded by the federal reserve to escape congressional budget control (clever). So clever the Republicans refused to let her be named first director over her own personal fiefdom, independent of congressional oversight.

Warren is well loved by the far left... and biding her time until after Hillary.  Maybe angling for a juicy cabinet appointment if Hillary wins (which was a sure thing up until recently).

I still don't like her...  8) These congressional hearings are all about the sound bites. If you want them to get any work accomplished remove the TV cameras.

She tried a few twitter attacks against Trump to help Hillary and he dismissed her with an indian nick-name (Pocahontas). While he probably wasn't the first or last to call her that, just the highest profile. At Harvard she claimed native American heritage to get minority treatment, a claim that has not been substantiated with any evidence  (AFAIK). She wouldn't be the first or last to trade in cultural approbation. If she isn't really indian then calling her an indian name isn't really racist.  (my head hurts just conjuring up that twisted logic).

So this bank created millions of fake accounts to drive their market rate up and profit from the market. How does that affect me and what can I get out of it? It is a big company with good customer service. I have only had one credit card and I have had it for 20 years, I'm pretty much a dead beat, but if I make a payment late, I can ask them to remove the late fee and the interest and they comply.  Should I cancel my account and find an ethical bank, is there such a thing? And if I do cancel my account, I'll want to move my mortgage too, who will pay the refinance fees? Am I entitled to any compensation, probably not...

Native americans are the poster boy for what happens if you trust the US government to take care of you.

Are you absolutely sure you've only got one account?

I'm not too worried about that, it's just on paper. If they go screwing with their customers it could be the end of business. I am more concerned about the data breach of Blue Cross last year and Yahoo Two years ago...

i git a check in the mail the other day for 238 smackers, have not had an account with wells  for years, class action suit of some kind, i like wells fargo now,

check this out!

Wells Fargo will pay $24 million to settle allegations that it mistreated members of the military -- including illegally repossessing their cars.
