I'm interested in figuring out the maximum microphone diaphragm deflection for a project. Can anyone point me to a chart or have some numbers that show SDC microphone diaphragm excursion vs. SPL?

It isn't that simple a question.  It really depends on the combination of distance to the backplate, resonance frequency and the polarization voltage.

Understood.  What about a ballpark figure for a midband tuned, 20um separation, SDC (~20mm), pressure gradient type capsule with no polarization voltage present?

The diaphram under those circumstance and normal use  could easily move more than  the 20 microns spacing to the backplate.

In the B&K Microphone Handbook, it states the separation is typically set to 20 micron +/-0.5 micron. Does the polarization voltage dampen the membrane that much? I would think suck-in would occur if the membrane was that close to the back-plate.
