Hello,

I'm looking to replace a defective opto coupler in an Avalon 737. The one currently in the unit is listed as VACTEC VACTROL.

Does anyone know if the Excelitas VTL5C3 Vactrol is a suitable replacement for this? Is the VTL5C3 generally recommended in compressors?

Your welcome, I tried other vactrol's including some that were said to be compatible and none worked as well or in some cases did not function at all.  To use another vactrol a rework of the circuit would be in order...

As PUCHO said: Don't use other parts or you will not be pleased. The OPTO's are matched so both channels will track. The VTL5C1 were placed into a test fixture and they were graded into bins. I know this since I made the test fixture wrote the software used to select them.
Duke :)
