hi Jakob,

I remember you saying that you have tried the M7 capsule in the G7 mic, and I wonder what you thought about it's sound? Do you think they are a good match?

I have a Gefell MT711 that has become noisy and I'm thinking I could use the M7 in a G7 .

Has anyone else tried an M7 in the G7 mic?

thanks ,
Lance

Why don't you fix the gefell?

Noise might be the capsule being dirty.

Looking at the gefell circuit schematic it looks like it can be a very good microphone circuit.

If you take it apart would you take some pictures?

hi Gus,

I'd like to fix the Gefell too....but I'm I've taken measurements of all the
transistors and all seems right. I only have a multi-tester and I was
going to one day post the problem here about where to start?
Which transistor is the likely one to go bad? All parts are SMD except
the JFET.

The MT711 is a bit different from the MT71 circuit. It has only a large
1/2 inch round inductor instead of the framed circuit (marked LP11) in the bottom left of the MT71 . I guess you could guess the likely value of the
inductor.

I liked the sound of the MT711 but there was a dirty , unclear artifact
at the siblance frequency. Maybe the JFET or ? was always bad?

I'll try to get a picture up for you some time this week .

WOW! The G7 is a great mic design Jakob. My hat's off to you. The M7 sounds very good with this circuit .

I gutted a silver se5000 and managed to barely fit the G7 boards into it.
I wouldn't want to mislead anyone into thinking it's a good choice for
an easy fit.

Thanks for sharing this design with everyone here , Jakob you rock!

cheers,
Lance
