Hi there!

Got a pile of broken SM57s and, as I am always up for a challenge, I am in the process of rebuilding a capsule, made out of a good diaphragm, working voice coil, etc. Just for the F_ _ (fun) of it ;)

I might succeed or not, but at least it's "just" an SM57... Just for learning.

So. First I glued the diaphragm on the copper ring, centered on the traces of the previous voice coil. This is done. Obviously, I installed the voice coil before, with the coil wires passing through the holes of the ring.

Ok. Next I would center the voice coil on the diaphragm and glue it. To be done.

Then I'll wait until it dries up and I would carefully center the voice coil (glued to the diaphragm, glued to the copper ring) by injecting different tones through the voice coil (which ones work the best at which level?) and carefully moving the copper ring until I get no distortion caused by the friction of the magnet to it.

The voice coil is perfectly round.

I use transparent silicone glue.

Does it make sense to you, experts?

Check the pics attached for further details.

Thanks A LOT!
