What are some nice, strong and cheapish compressors I can build myself?

I'm after a compressor or limiter I can really smash my sampler into.

What's a simple, relatively cheap but ok sounding circuit I could build myself? Mono will do the job.

I've soldered togteher kits myself, have access to PCB printing etc,
