Congratulations !

Where did U find these switches ? 71 series is out of stock everywhere. I need some for my EZ1084 eq build.

Where are you located in France ? I'm from St Etienne.

Ratrace... Fan of Skindred ? (I love this band)

the switchs are from mouser (look the link in my previous message).

I'm from Avignon :)

And Ratrace is more for the concept (but i like bob marley, the specials, skindred, enter shikari song's :) )

Thanks for the link.

Is it possible to choose the number of positions or is it fixed 12 positions only ? I can't find the information.

Otherwise, you shouldn't have a click when switching as they are shorting type.

It's fixed position, (that's the AJ=ajustable or 12=12fixed at the end of the ref code)

I don't have click between most position, only big one "click/pop" between 50 and 55 positions.

Ok thanks, so it won't fit my build. I'll wait for the ones I need to be available again and I'll start another project for now.

how many positions do you need ?

maybe there is a ref fixed with the number of position you need :)

Here are the grayhill references from the EZ1084 eq's BOM...

1 x 71BDF30-03-1-AJN
2 x 71BDF30-01PAJN
3 x 71BDF30-01QAJN

This is for one unit, I planed to build two of them.

Picture from the build guide explaining the switches stop positions attached.

I need 1 more info for helping you : wich switch correspond to wich use ? Some are 2 poles(371BDF30-01QAJN), some are 1 pole (71BDF30-01PAJN).

- For gain (7 or 11 positions) and mids (8 positions) it is one pole 71BDF30-01PAJN

- for for HPF (5 pos), low (5 pos) and hi (4 pos) it's 2 pole 71BDF30-01QAJN

- for LPF (6 po) it is 3 decks one pole 71BDF30-03-1-AJN

Actualy i just find shorting version for 5pos 2poles and 11pos 1pole.

And the 71BDF30-01PAJN is avaible here.

And btw i use the page from grayhill wich is really helpfull if you know what you are searching for!

have anyone built the EZ1290 using a 24 positions sensitivity switch? I'd like to understand how to mod the circuit in order to get 24 usefull positions, for example to get 2.5db steps instead of 5db. Not that I need that much precision, but I'd do that because I have some spare 4*24 rotary switches that I'd like to use..and those don't have any configurable stop, so I can't set them as 12 positions switch.

I can only speak from personal experience, but all of the Grayhill 71 "non adjustable" switches I have used were in fact fully adjustable internally. Instead of exposing the stop pins, the pins are just hidden behind the front face. They are well engineered and come apart and back together easily. As long as they have the full set of throws (10 or 12) and the desired break they should be usable as a full position switch. For example a "fixed" 2P6T can be changed into a SP12T (or anything in between) without issue.

Thanks, but my switches are not by Grayhill, not even similar, so I can’t adjust the stop pin

Page 25 has the switch schematic.

It’s not impossible to convert that to a 24 contact switch, just takes some thinking, calculating, and looking at the original 1073/84 schematics. The EZ1290 projects switch has been reduced to 12 position from the original device. The Neve was using a 24x3 switch with 16 positions for mic and 8 for line signals.

Last, if your using the common multi’s on eBay and ali there is a easy wafer for mounting resistors from a WM offering. They also can be modified to have a stop pin. Zyance is going to redo the photos soon.

thanks,
what switch from ebay/ali is the one you're talking about, out of curiosity?

Pictures were really helpful to me when I first started this project and the pictures of other users' builds can get lost for a newbie in all the pages, so I thought I'd post some of one of my completed 4 channel units.
