Assuming this isn't all just BS, did DHS happen to ask you to sign an NDA perhaps? You do realize that the "Bad Guys" have Internet too right?
[Assuming this isn't all just BS] -- Why is it that you immediately assume that someone is just "making up Bull-Shit" only because they have worked within other areas of the electronics industry than just audio??? Plus.....why would I even bother to spend my time "making up Bull-Shit" to post on this forum/thread??? To impress everybody??? For what ends??? While reading your other responses sprinkled throughout this forum I have surmised that you do have an impressive background in electronics, but I have also noticed that lots of your responses are condescending to others based upon their postings. I find generally reading many of your responses to others to be rather depressing IMO. And.....besides my design work with defense contractors and other military-related companies, I have also worked with a large number of "medical electronics firms" designing all manner of diagnostic instrumentation. Or, do you also believe that that is all BS as well???

I was working for a defense contractor who was working under the DHS on a special contract to design and develop all of these "covert intelligence-gathering, surveillance and/or tracking operations" projects for them. So, my NDA was with the defense contractor and not with DHS. And, just to give you an idea of the security involved surrounding these projects I was designing, whenever I had to appear physically at the defense contractor's facility to discuss a project, as I entered the front-doors of their building and walked into their lobby I was greeted by a team of Security Personnel. They would walk me through the building to a door located in the rear of their facility. One of the security members would punch-in a code to unlock the door and we would walk into this really large room that had a really large secondary building built within it. When all of us got to its front-door, another security member would punch-in its code and we would then enter into yet another very large room. Within that room was another building (I'm guessing maybe 15' X 25') that was built on top of pillars about 15' high. We all would climb up the staircase to get to that building's front-door where a third member of the security team would punch-in a code to unlock that front-door. Once inside, it was just like a conference room setting and all of the engineers working on these DHS projects were already seated around a conference table. The security team would leave and the engineering meeting of why I was there would begin. I could have never dreamed or even imagine such security even existed, but there I was!!!

But.....I just made all of that up, right???

And.....if you think that all of that sounds outrageous.....then you certainly do not want to know about the time that the NSA called me personally here at home and -- requested -- that I drive to their complex at Ft. Meade, MD to assist their engineers with some PCB design issues that they were having. That event got me to not only be surrounded by armed military MP's, but to also be surrounded by active-duty military soldiers that were armed with "LIVE" ammunition M-16 rifles, just to be escorted through their hallways!!! During my meeting with the NSA engineers, these armed soldiers were also there standing at "Attention" with their rifles at the ready in each corner of the conference room. So.....while the NSA had requested my attendance solely for what I know about PCB design and a specific PCB CAD design program, because I was an "uncleared, non-secured, unvetted civilian" walking into one of the most secured buildings on planet Earth, the NSA simply took what was for them "easy safety precautions" to make sure I didn't do anything "stupid"!!!

But.....I'm just making all of that up as well.....right???

[It would be physically impossible to install 200 components on a board that size with a soldering iron] -- I have absolutely no idea of -- HOW -- these PCBs were assembled, as I was not privvy to those details. I was "just" a "Remote Senior PCB Designer" for these DHS projects and all I did was to design their boards as they were needed to be. Beyond that.....I have no clue what happened!!!

And.....speaking of "0603" components.....I once worked with a military-related company that became involved with designing specialized communications equipment for the -- then secret -- NRO (National Reconnaissance Organization) that is located in the Northern Virginia area near the Dulles Airport. I got to design the PCBs for a highly-secretive communications device that was designed to fit within a briefcase. In order to conserve on the PCB real estate during the "Components Placement" phase of the layout, we had developed a special via padstack that was used to -- literally -- place an "0603" part into, whether it was a capacitor or a resistor. This worked out really well as an "0603" component length is about the same dimension as a PCB is thick, the only main downside was that all of those parts had to be manually inserted by hand, but it was a really nifty layout trick!!! But.....I'm just making that all up, too!!!

Like someone already suggested, I would get a finished board like these and call it a day:
I would except none of them has a balanced input. There is a JLM on with balanced ins that I might plump for but they have trouble shipping to the UK since Brexit.
You need to figure out how to run it off a single supply, probably just lift the ground plus an output capacitor.
Not a problem.

The TPA6120 has balanced inputs as per datasheet. In the fineprint of the auction it says "Can be configured for Single Ended or Differential Inputs".
 
I'll state what I think is something fairly obvious. You clearly have skills and knowledge to design this yourself so wouldn't that be the best course of action rather than taking a flyer on something off of the Ebay ?
Even if it doesn't involve valves or transformers 😄 ?

I cannot disagree with that statement. I just wanted to know if I would be reinventing the wheel. I have ordered a few of the TI chips and when I get them I plan to create a small PCB. It will be my first SMT design.
