I'm repeatedly amazed by Soliloqueen's way of dealing with criticism or even plain rude comments... She never fires back or anything, always tries to see beyond the comment and even defends the other side.
I really wish you all the best with your business and hope other companies learn something from you and that you can show that kindness and honesty is the way to go for a business.

I also have to give props to soliloqueen and George Toledo for their self awareness and politeness in resolving a potential dispute on FB. It's nice to see people solve things in a reasonable way.
Oh, I’m surprised to see this mentioned while scrolling here today.

Just so there isn’t speculation. The nature of my comment had been that Neumann had moved to plastic rings with conformal coating around the perimeter in order to have the capsule be a little less prone to shorting out under contamination. Eventually they developed the k89 design to further mitigate that.

Also. Peluso’s comment didn’t seem rude or loaded, it had no characterization with it. He makes a product with “Chinese backplates”, I believe. (I dislike that
over generalization.)

There is a tendency for people who have invested money in products to sometimes be wrathful on the internet when any discussion runs afoul of their sensibilities. Maybe the wrath can be deserved, maybe not.

If I mention anything specific about gear, it’s meant more to be food for thought for the manufacturer, to use or discount, as opposed to being meant as an arrow. It’s also probably about whatever it is that would make me want to buy a given product.

i sort of dislike when people do this...hard to explain why. even if it's well-meaning. i do appreciate my customers defending my products and all, but... the closest way i could phrase it is that i don't feel i need people's help to be respected by others

I have recieved my 2 "K47" today, can't wait to listen them :) Thank you!

Edit:
Btw is it safe to polarize them at 65v or 70v?

Doesn't sensitivity depend more / a lot on the circuit following the capsule? Nominal polarization is likely ~60V.

May i ask for sensivity, nominal polarisation voltage and capsule capacitance of your K47 piece of art?
true condenser capsules don't have sensitivity in the traditional sense because they're they are an open half of a system. If you mean at unity gain at 60 volts I would say about -36dB probably. 70pF nominal plus or minus 3pF. 60 volts nominal if only because it extends so low that it's a bit sensitive to pressure. You don't want too high of a voltage on it in case it bottoms out or something. This capsule started out as a collection of tests, and one of the things I did for fun was that I made i undervented it to see what would happen so be a bit careful of over and under pressure. I might alter how the next version is vented.

Thanks for sharing this information :)
I could imaginge to polarise with only 40V, would lead to a sensivity around -40dBV. With P48 supply a stepup voltage converter could be avoided..

I’m just looking at the last page, haven’t been keeping up. I notice the point about the venting, and it brings to mind that I have noticed that Neumann capsule clones that don’t seem to have a matching low end extension to the real thing, seem to not get the venting identical. Even though there are probably other aspects with various clones that don’t match either, I have long thought this is a very important factor that makers should probably focus on more. I think if that’s not a match then the relationship between inner air mass and diaphragm mass is probably effected, for one.

This is not really “aimed” at any particular capsule maker, just an “in general” thought.

Glad you considered my point about the tension rings, btw, Ari. Good luck with everything!

the flat k47 is undervented and flat practically down to 0. basically, it becomes more of a pressure transducer (omni) as it goes down. I didn't see any vents on the neumann k47s I took apart either, unlike the k67 and k87, so I wonder if this transitional pressure behavior is responsible for the K47's "3d bass" (as described by other people) and also ascribed to my capsule. Looking at the polar pattern for a tlm49 vs mics based on clone capsules, the clone capsules maintain more low-end directionality, but the neumann makes a beeline towards full omni as soon as it gets below 250hz and looking at the changes from then on, it's probably full omni by the time it gets to 20hz. I wonder if this is due to differences in chart display or measurement etc or if it is true.

Thanks! They look a little grungy now with the clear coating, but it's more important that it functions properly long-term than looking pretty...

My love letter to the Flat K47. This capsule is so impressive!

Wow man, that sounds like a dream. I could only wish i had a voice like that! I don't think @soliloqueen could get any better promo material than this. Listening through my favorite headphones, i got goosebumps! Those sibilants are just beautiful.

Thanks King! Goosebumps is what I always aim for. I really am loving the sound of this capsule. That high end handles sibilants so well, especially for the kind of close-mic'd stuff I do and it just sounds so big. The "Flat" 47 just blows me away.
