Title: WSW Automatic gain control Amp... Talkback mic preamp!!!...
Post by: roginator on December 20, 2009, 07:16:53 PM
whell I have couple of this listen compressors for WSW-Siemens consoles cca 1967..so far before ssl  ;D

I would like to see if there is idea to mod em to work as classic compressor limiters for drum bus or something
(http://www.wsw.cz/10WSW_MIC_AMP/WSW_SCHEMA_MIC_AMP.JPG)

as far as I understand... if input signal is attenuated they compress  more!!! and I like that..
but how to play around with any other control like release or maybe ratio!!

any idea...

R30, R31 in conjunction with C8 govern the attack and release times, respectively, with C9 & R33 adding second-order smoothing.
Reducing R30 to shorten the attack time would be somewhat limited because of the resistance of the secondary of ├╝bertrager 3.
But I don't see any counter-indication in reducing C8 down to 10-4.7uF and replacing R30 and R31 with 47k and 470k pots the latter with a 47-100k padding resistor.
