As long as  there's sufficient interest and enough info to build a new project, I can provide the PCB - if you provide gerbers and give me permission to sell them.

As a general reference based on the mails I receive - I will always need a gerber-file and permission from the person who drew up a project to manufacture and sell it.

Have a nice weekend

i'm not deep enough into this community (yet) to know but is there a chance that you will be able to distribute the Nite EQ? i have no idea who drew the project or what a gerber is but i'm sure someone who's reading this right now does and can get the ball rolling?

Another one of Peters projects, which I did ask him about - I never heard back from him, so I have no permission to make them.

If anyone wants to offer basic components-packages for any of the projects, please let me know. I get a lot of questions asking for basic kits, but I would prefer to stick to the PCB myself and link to someone else offering.

I would need Gerber-files and PeterC's permission, which I do not have - I assume he will offer these boards himself again, so I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.

Ideas are very welcome, but requesting boards that someone else designed and sells is a dead end.

Looks like it was early days of the 500 series in DIY-world.

I'll get the ball rolling on it during the weekend, and please let me know if you want a prototype and/or have any parts for the build I should put a link up to.

Also, just to make absolutely sure - this is the latest revision? http://www.audiomaintenance.com/downloads/prodigy_nite500_electrical.zip

if so, is there any chance to make this fit in one 500 sereies space instead of two with today's advanced DIY 500 series knowledge? =D

The project will be offered as per Colin's design :)

I have received the production files from Colin, and it will take a little time before I have completed a prototype, checked with Colin and manufactured a batch for sale. If everything is smooth, I image it could be for sale in 3-4 weeks.

Upcoming projects.

Adding the Great River MP2 in a few days.
NiteEQ in 500 series format has been sent to Colin and will be available when he has checked them

In the works

Jakob’s Gyraf G1176
Headphone amp from Jakob/Gyraf
Summing mixer from Buzz audios Tim Farrant
Someone from this board might be offering a basic partskit for a few select projects...

In the meanwhile, I’m still looking for pictures and would love some reviews of the existing projects.

Don’t hesistate to write me or post here if you have questions.

Colin is looking at the NiteEQ PCBs, I will start production when I have an ok on the prototype.

I am waiting for the last few parts to start a "GssL for dummies” guide.

Since I was shopping for components anyways, I bought 10 extra kits, which I will be offering on the site.

I won’t be mailing the kits till the guide is done (have to make sure there are no bits and pieces missing), but you can pre-order, if you want to get your hands on one.

I just woke up to a ”server down” notification from my host. It has been down for the last 12 hours, but they informed it should be up and running soon.

I have a private website which never has downtime (www.tilflytteren.dk)
I went with a different host for the webshop based on recommendations from programmer friends....never trusting my friends again, it has problems constantly.

Looks great btw

was trying to quote the pic ,

Hi,

Because the power supply section is separate from the signal section it can be cut off, this allows the board to fit in 500-format.  If you have vu-meters then a further section can be removed to allow the board and vu to fit.  This may help a bit:

Maybe I'll learn enough to do a 500 series layout based on your idea before the end of 2013 :)

Hey Gustav!

A small note regarding G1176 build manual!

You wrote in the manual (page 2):
"Print the resistor charts and a board layout located at the back of this manual before getting started"

But you forgot to put those charts and layout at the back of the manual!

I just sold the last two, and I doubt I will be making more.

You can use the 500 series card to build the same circuit and add an edge connector to make the connections if you want to mount it in a case.

Hi Don.

Thanks for the heads up.

I'm not sure how you accessed the site (direct ip address?), but there is a domain redirect error that I won't be able to talk to my host about until monday/tomorrow, which is also the reason why your mail bounced.

Ill check the admin panel for your order when its back up, and in case you have a specific shipping address, just enter it during check out for future orders :)

I built a few units to test the latest projects https://pcbgrinder.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=102 (https://pcbgrinder.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=102) - all nibbles so far, so I lowered the price a bit.

Shipped them already, but I can see I made a mistake by using regular mail - I probably didn't look at the total and assumed that two sets of discounted PCBs would not be UPS (Baby haze brain fart?)

Ill get a replacement out via UPS tomorrow...and you can keep the other set when it arrives.

Hi Giancarlo.

I updated your order to completed on november 28th. If you did not receive a notification, please check your spam folder.

You selected regular mail as your shipping option, which can take more than a month to arrive. In my experience, it only happens in very rare cases that it does actually take longer than a week or two to arrive, but it seems like the holiday season has made those cases a little less rare.

https://pcbgrinder.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=82_83

For fast, tracked shipment, I recommend the UPS option on the site.

Hope that helps!?

Just a little question about your GSSL SC edition PCB. Is it still compatible with the super sidechain board (is the HPF addition on your board bypassable)?

Someone gave me a case with a GSSL frontpanel which features adjustable SC frequencies, that he had lying around, would be a shame to leave that empty :)

The PCB is still the GssL, but I named the kit update sc ed, just to make it known the sc components are included for the single frequency side chain shown in the build guide.

So yes, fully compatible.

Fully compatible.

Hi gustav, GSSL kit, includes meter?

Nope.

All studies show that people have an aversion to fragmented buying, but I think helping with the components should be enough to get you started.

I do have a meter in the shop that fits the GssL (Its my own preferred meter for the project), but you should see the aestethic side as an opportunity to express yourself and find the meter that suits you best :)

I think 4 channels running on a battery would give you very limited battery life.

you can hook up one channel to two 9V batteries.

Its all finished, and its working on all tests, but...

Tight now I have put in the usual pots instead of switches/fixed resistors. I need to figure out the resistor values, and I have had some other stuff to finish up before doing so (Like fixing a burned tone generator).

I may work on it monday, but if you just want to get started, go ahead and order a set of boards. (I do have them stocked, even if the website probably is set to zero stock).

Tubes will be included.

No comment on the tone generator "burn". Destroying that was pure stupidity, but luckily, I have verified I can get it back to life again with a little Frankenstein PSU set-up on the bench. Working on  finding a suitable transformer for it now, so I can close the lid back up :)

I have a target of making just ten kits, and for now, I am down the power trafo and matched tubes, which I am working out with Jakob next week.

I also thought that after a lot of experimentation, I had the 100% definite resistor chain for each control, but I am doing some final tweaks on the low boost this week :) Of course, you can always substitute your own, since its just cheap resistors, but I want to make sure this one is cool for at least my own taste.

If you want to secure one from the first batch, do a pre-order in the shop. It won't be too long now.

Udo.

"Test"-building a unit to check the content of the kits. Left out 2 x 10K resistors, so have to fix that - other than that, I just need that power trafo to arrive now.

This will be the look of a pre built unit well be offering for sale (Just a few minor changes, router too large for the gain bands, angle too tight on the power button, but almost there)

Did the kit,here´s a pic.
Nicely packed, parts are very good matched, that must have taken ages! Thanks a lot Gustav!
Next steps is tweaking the drop resistor (some are ordered and on their way),atm I get around 210 vdc,a bit too low.
Then design a front panel etc.

Udo - 210V is pretty good for that circuit - it gives a very small loss in headroom, but often a much longer tube life.

So  I'll be o.k. with the max. level from my interfaces which are +19dBu (+13dBu @ standard setting),output impedance is 75 Ohms?

I wonder if I should better ask this in the GPultec thread........?

Ordered a New GssL sc ed. kit with power traffo this saturday (march 28) ! Shipping to quebec, canada. Order is still processing though..

Also, might not be the best place to ask but I was wondering how would one install Expat Audio's turbo board with the new fixed freq sidechain ? I emailed and PMed the guys at Expat with no answers and also search through the gdiy gssl help thread and found nothing.  I know you need two boards of SC usually but since there is no dedicated board for the hpf sc with this new version, that left me scratching my head.

Thanks !

I emailed and PMed the guys at Expat with no answers and also search through the gdiy gssl help thread and found nothing.  I know you need two boards of SC usually but since there is no dedicated board for the hpf sc with this new version, that left me scratching my head.

Thanks !

- Joel

Hi Joel.

The kit will go out on Tuesday. I believe I stated up to 5 week days processing on the site, and end of this week, including monday next week, is easter here, so its hard to get things done.  Sorry about the delay involved...

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do the mod you wish to install, with or without an extra side chain board

Tell us more about heater!

It won't turn bad sounds good, but the local engineers that are sitting  on prototype units seem to get a lot of mileage out of them.

Something like that?

Just build one, and let me know if its boo or hooray for you :)

Hi Gustav

Wainting on that ms encoder board, nice one. Also added the w492 in order, long time wainting in my to do list...

So, the heater came out from your revised pultecs, it looks good! What about the sound? But too many projects in the meantime... Trying to finish 2 peq2...

Thanks, the Ms Matrice is a nice little addition, and it was fun to work on it.

Is there anything specific you feel is not covered in the descriptions/picture of the front panel/schematic?

If you are asking about "sound", I have taught myself a little chant.

"I built it, I tweaked it so I like it, I hope you will try building it and find you like it too"

no problem :)

Think of it like this - you have a chance to build a DIY tool that you can't even find as a commercial product  - well, unless you buy one of my pre-built :)

The M/S balance shift really does something, wether you end up liking it or not, and if you dont think it grabs or lets go enough, you can add to the gain steps yourself.

Hi Gustav!

I'm building a 2-ACA-BO and wish to have some tubes as an interstage or insert and was looking at your heater and pqd2, which one of those circuits would be better suited for buss work? And would it be possible to skip the filter section of the pqd2 and just use the tube PCB with the tubes and trafos? The output of the tube stage would go to a pair of elmas for attenuating the boost then into the 2-ACA-BO booster circuit. The 2-ACA-BO is unbalanced all the way through until the 2503 trafos!

Sorry if my questions are too nooby for you!:)

I am sorry, but I dont really understand what you're asking.

I can say that the PQD2 gainstage and the HEATER are practically the same circuit, which seems to be the essence of it.

No idea what a 2-ACA-BO is.

I make the boards used for PCB Grinder at my family's PCB manufacturing plant  - Printline.

The factory is located in Denmark, and they just started offering an online ordering service (probably only 10 years too late).

Its a bit congested for my taste, but if you click the "no login" button, it will take you to the quote calculator.

http://printline.dk/webportal/formtools/index_uk-se.php

If you have ever had a board from PCB Grinder in your hands, you can be sure it was manufactured at Printline. In all humility, I happen to think the quality is superb, and  manufacturing is set up to danish, environmental standards.

If you have a complex task, they have a very capable CAM department who will be happy to work with you on your design.

I dont offer the G7 anymore, but you can order a panel full of them (a single PCB would probably be too costly to make it worth
while).

What happened to the Matrix boards on your webshop?

Would demand a revision to keep them going on par with the rest of the stuff - not enough interest in them to keep them going. (Sold very few, even after I discounted them to clear stock).

I do have one or two left, so write me if you need a set.

Ill need to update your account after you've registered for the VAT registration. I know its a bit of a hassle, but invoices are autogenerated in the software.

Earlier this year, I got divorced, and now I am ready to make a move from the rented house I've been stuck in ever since.

Not going for anything fancy, and I thought I'd be browsing for a month or two, but I found the perfect apartment today, and in order to make a bid on it, I'd need a little extra for down payment and moving.

I added a 10% coupon in the shop, so if you type MOVING in the appropriate field, you'll save a little money - and help a lot. Valid for items in the kits section and the assembled units section.

I am basically covered on the down payment, so this is just to make sure I can cover moving and administrative expenses.

Apologies if this is also something that has been covered again and again, but I’m really tempted to buy a PQ2 kit, but as I’m very fond of the 16k band, in plugin land at least, I’m wondering why there’s 18k as default instead on the PQ2. I’m sure it’s equally great, if not even better, I’m just being curious. :)

Site was killed by a hack, and I took it as a chance to build it from scratch, rather than spend more time on an abandoned format, reverting to saved version, patching up holes etc.

Basics are up and running -  working on getting the documentation added to finish it today and the coming week(s).
