Good to see the listing, sad to see you might not do anymore runs of Igor's boards! (not that I need anymore right now...still, so tempting to stock up just in case... ;) )

For anyone who might be considering building the F76s or He69s, don't be too discouraged by the lack of activity on those threads. I'm yet to get mine up and fully running yet due to waiting on some components, but so far it's all gone reasonably smoothly, and Frank's metalwork is great (well, for the F76s...still waiting on the He69s and some other stuff!). Of course, the proof is in the pudding, and I should be able to report back in a couple of weeks time with a final opinion on things, but Igor's reputation for nice sounding gear speaks for itself.

Anyway, just thought I'd chime in...and all you european based people should note that RR are UK based so no duty issues to worry about!

Kaz

P.S. Not affiliated in any way, just a customer.

Thanks taliska.

We plan to keep the boards in stock for as long as we can :d

No duty issues for EU yes, and we can do standard 'cheap' first class postage or tracked & insured.

Are you guys likely to sell any of his non 500 series projects? Like the 1U MixBuzz?
Title: Re: Ramshackle Recording's DIY Shop - Igor's projects and more
Post by: ramshackles on March 10, 2014, 04:42:40 PM
We have no plans to & Igor is no longer reachable.

It's possible to build the 500 series mixbuzz in a 2U case using the rackit kit.

We have more THAT VCA adapters and cascode opamps on the way.
Still got healthy stock on everything else.

I have also put in the first order of the prototypes for the Easy69 EQ: A eurocard version of the He69, which will be an easier build. Can be mounted vertically in a eurorack or horizontally in a regular 19" rack

We are fully stocked.

The 'easy69' prototypes are here. If anyone fancies being a 'beta - tester' give me a mail. I'll supply you a board and a capacitor set for free.
You'll need to get switches/pots, inductors, transformer & opamp.

The 'easy69' prototypes are here.

Are you still considering doing a full kit for the easy69?

Depends on interest.
At this stage I will likely do a partial kit for the eurocard format with all capacitors, resistors, connectors etc and an optional 7HP front panel (optional as you can build it in a 19" rack aswell).
That will leave it up the the builder to get rotary switches, inductors, transformer and opamp.

For a 500 series version, nothing is decided...

Request - emi tg limiter - uncle fester.  There's one member who has got to point of confirming everything and is ready for pcb fabrication.

33609

2254

All projects from igor need to be revisited  anyway and cleaned up, but those three are the ones most sorely missed (well and the sontec is as well)

We don't have the gerbers for those projects. For the time being we are focussed on bringing out a couple of unrelated products.
Compressors are on our radar for some time in the future..

I was really interested in the Easy Active eq that Igor had almost completed.
...and I still am ;D

I also wish I could get little things like "switch pcb" to convert my Mixbuzz1 to switches.
Alas... :(     just say'in.

I just received a pair of F76, 4kCC and a MixBuzz.
PCBs are of really nice quality and a breeze to solder with.

Shipping was fast and arrived before the shipping notification, on a Sunday :P

If Igor magically answers your emails, get the Sontec. I sorely need some EQ's around here.

Once upon a time there was something called 'Sontec8' which Igor made. It had the Sontec topolgy for the filters, but with 'massenburg' values. It used IC opamps throughout.

I'm working on something similar for the eurocard format.....

After the Easy69...

Which is on hold for a week while we move..

Thanks for the feedback... I'm not familiar with the 'easy active' EQ...

Switch PCB - a PCB for a grayhill or lorlin switch with positions for resistors? I think you can get such things from other vendors already (classicAPI?).

Ya,
Easy Active was(is) Igor's redux of the Valley Maxi-Q eq.
I was really looking forward to this. Igor had even shown pictures of the proto and a proposed front panel!.

http://groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=50643.msg645781;topicseen#msg645781

I hope that he(or his "lost projects") re-surface at some point.

... You're right about pcb for Grayhill. I found the ones at Classic API.
But I didn't find any for Lorlins.

Hi all
1 more mixbuzz in stock. The final one!

4KCC has been restocked and is plentiful. We also still have some F76's and He69's

Well, almost as I typed that the mixbuzz went. So no more mixbuzz I'm afraid.

We will still stock the THAT VCA adapter boards.

Took a new shipment of 4KCC, so plenty of those in stock.

I won't be getting any more MixBuzz for the foreseeable future; not enough interest.

well, as other stuff is ongoing, might as well ask for a mizbuzz set too. By the way, in your site you mention 5 pcbs, and actually the full assembly needs also the board containing the +/-12V supply, time constants and metering circuit. So, the kit is 6 pcbs, right?

Hi
Apologies for the inactivity recently. I only managed to get myself hit by a car while cycling  :o
All OK though - fractured rib and cuts and bruises which kept me out of action for a little while.

I'll be working through the backlog. There are a few who have been waiting too long for PCB's - sorry, they will be shipped asap!

Thanks,
I am mostly fine. A couple of cracked ribs and cuts and bruises. Back on my feet now and trying to pick things up.

Apparently the driver of the car already had some points for speeding and lost his license. I don't really have any sympathy...

Yes..the easy69 is Eurorack format. I have 1 prototype working. I'd like to build 1 or 2 more and refine it a bit then it will go on sale.
After that I will look at laying it out for 51x

HE69 & 4KCC are in stock.
Rackit PCBs (but not yet kits) are also in stock.
Opamps & VCA adapter PCB's are (perpetually) in stock.

We have sold out of F76 and MixBuzz 500....but thanks to demand, we are going to do another MixBuzz 500 run.  Do not expect any stock for 2-3 weeks though!

Also, as a general answer to queries on the 'easy69' and 'ISAish'...Yes I am still working on these. I have a prototype of each and plan to make some revisions to the layout before putting on sale.
I am only able to dedicate 12-15 hours a week  or so on electronics so tend to move a bit more slowly than others! I hope to have RR products out in the new year.

Cheers!

Hi

Apologies for lack of replies. All orders from before 1/7/15 should hopefully now be at their destination. All orders after that should be out within the next 2 days!

It has been a busy few months, but from now on I should be much more active on the shop.

A quick word about whether [insert name here] igor project will be back in stock:

Technically, our original agreement with Igor has expired. We have tried to make contact, but like many of you he has been out of touch for way over a year now.
We are seeking advice on where we stand legally. So, unfortunately, I won't be putting new stock up for sale until we are satisfied it is all A-OK :)

Someone should redesign these projects from the schematics...
We are waiting a long time ago, Igor left us (I liked him a lot BTW).
But there are a lot of great projects that we would have liked to build and its years since no PCB is available.
If I would be good at designing PCBs I would make these projects again, but I'm not.
I hope a talented PCB designer will help us soon, we really miss these projects (2254, tg limiter and so on)
Legally only the PCB belongs to Igor, designing a new one is possible.

Hey guys! If someone can redesign these projects please help us!
We can make a list about who is interested in which project...

Please understand there is no personal attack to Igor.
I would be very happy if he would come back and continue his work, but its years now, and everybody is waiting.

Peter

Yes,  igor is very much missed.  I think Electrochronic is planning on remaking  the TG comp. not sure how his progress is coming. I have a set of the TG uncle fester comp boards that I can scan if it would help. I hope to be populating them soon. I also have a scan of the ch**r copy boards scanned as well.

If it was viable for a hobbyist to spend as much time as it would take to redesign these pcb's from a schematic for the sole benefit of the general public, then it would have been done already. There's no lack of passion in this community, but there's also no lack of other life commitments either.

OK, I see!

So let's collect the interest on the projects, and I will see what I can do for these projects.
I have a friend who is good in designing, if there will be great interest on 1 or 2 projects I will ask him to design PCBs for that!
Redesigning one by one is not impossible.

easy69; I have built 2 prototypes of this eq on euroboard. A couple more adjustments and then it is ready.

ISA: In the planning stages. It is similar to the console version of the ISA110, with input and output transformers. It only has the high and low pass filters (not the full channel strip) and I'll be using the LL1538 transformer (as used in the more modern 'ISA' range) for input rather than the 'VT24469' of the original (as I dont know what that is!)

Hello!
It has, unfortunately being a long time since I have been active on the forum; my real life as a developer and a new little girl took up a lot of time. Well, now I have had some time off from the daily grind to be able to reflect upon what is important (namely, everything but the day job!) And I will be dedicating more time to the shop and electronics in general from now on. We are still open for businesses and my first port of action is to evaluate stock and old projects...

The 4KCCs pcbs I got from you grew up to become a great pair of compressors for me. Glad to see you're back!

All boards back in stock.
I have launched a new website, which has a new lower shipping rate for most places and lower prices for most of the boards  :D.

It is a bit spartan for now - you can literally look at and buy the boards and that's it. I'll be expanding it in the coming weeks.

Any problems using the site, just give me a holler at [email protected]

Hallo
We are now selling a 4KCC parts kit. PCB & electronics components for 200 EUR starting price.
To finish you just need to get the metal work and some knobs.

Here is an octopart BOM for the project:
https://octopart.com/bom-tool/lJ36mjlB

It will form part of the build guide I'm currently working on.

Hi James. Your boards are always awesome, bought you a few. Now I finished an Igor 33609 that took a few years to complete. Anyway, its a very nice piece of gear that should be available for the community, if there's enough interest, of course. Any thoughts on this?
Best regards

Also a question - is there any interest in a MixBuzz parts kit?

James,

I have some of your THAT VCA adapters and I was wondering if you knew if they needed to trimmed if using 2180 pre trimmed VCA's? Looking to install these in a GSSL I'm repairing.

Thanks!

Hey, I've tried to inquire at your store contact, and haven't heard back. Want to see if you've got an eta on the parts/ pcb? I've received the metal work from Frank already. I just want to avoid getting rigglered!
