Title: BBC AM6/3 limiter

Can someone who knows these modules explain what the deal is with the Unit 1 and Unit 2? The Unit 2 has no controls other than an on/off switch and a gain trimmer, while the Unit 1 has controls and a meter.

What confuses me is that I've seen them sold as a pair, but also separately, as though they should each work on their own. Is the Unit 2 just a gain recovery amp for the Unit 1?
