Thank you.
Please can you post a pic with the other side of the PCB and hi res pic of the capsule and mount?
The Lundahl 1578 is the one they use or you just put it there for somparison?
care to enlighten us gus?
Yeah, what do you think, Gus?

I thought it looked nice and quite high-quality. I can't read the schematic from looking at the components though.

Still, the only way to really see how good it is, is to listen to it.

I drew a schematic from the picture.

I think you have to build a few tube microphone circuits to see what I see. The schematic I drew looks to me like the circuit sounds really good

I'm very impressed!

I didn't think that would be possible, but there you go!

"Just so you guys know, D. Bock is a member here.."

That is why I am not posting anything more than I did.

The schematic part

It only a handfull of parts I don't know the tube number(I can guess from the load lines of tubes) but it can only go together so many ways with that amount of parts I don't need to see the traces. But you have to have build a few microphone circuits and study a lot of schematics and do some math and use your ears/brain to see what I think I see.

I think David Bock is a designer

EDIT I see some new pictures look at the nice touch with the grid wire. You can even see what looks like a design change to make the circuit simpler.

Im sure david bock really appreciates those pictures being posted here even if they entirely serve to show how high quality those mics are.

certain aspects and mentality of this group are really starting to bother me.

what do you think, what other makes do ????

This makes me very uncomfortable as well. We need to make sure that the things we do don't cause harm to anyone, and small manufacturers in particular. Their road is plenty hard enough.

I sort of feel a little responsible for adding to this trend. I posted the insides of the Black Night. But out of respect I made sure there was no shots of the traces or the component values (even though JZ is not well liked on this forum). Heck, even Gus couldn't guess the circuit from my photos. Still, that may have even been taking it too far, and if so, I appologize.

I agree with Dave and Seth. If you want to post porn from a current product, at least do it Playboy style and not Hustler style. You can get the idea of what a pretty woman looks like without the anatomy lesson. Granted, if manufacturer A wanted to know what manufacturer B was up to, they could do thier own reverse engineering pretty easily. I am sure it's done all the time, even if the intent isn't to rip off a design. The issue here is probably about respect more than anything else.

It's usual practice for manufacurers to buy stuff from other manufacturers and examine their stuff. Respectable manufacturers do that, too. When you want to market a new toy, you gotta know what the other boys offer. I don't think there's anything wrong with that as long as you don't copy, clone, or counterfeit.

what do you think, what other makes do ????

well they certainly dont post pictures of their own or their competitors products on this forum if thats the point you are trying to make. There's a big difference between opening something in your studio to look at or a manufacturer purchasing a competitors product to reverse engineer, big difference between doing that in private and then posting the pictures on the internet.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that as long as you don't copy, clone, or counterfeit.

well since nobody on this group would ever think of such a thing I guess I got my feathers ruffled for nothing.

I certainly want to abide by the wishes of the concensus of this forum. I think that is best for the community at large. I also understand that some of this stuff is simple enough to be reversed from just photos and what I am about to show is not so easy...

On this subject, I'd like to show you guys something and make some comments.

Twenty three of my employer's products are featured there...some of which I did the layout on...! But I don't have a problem with this site being there. Yes, we buy and test competitors' products. We have a huge file of test data from our testing. I don't think it would be right to post that data on the net. But I think that these photos don't hurt anyone. Sometimes it does reveal who is not doing any design work! I have even thought about taking some pics of our current product for this guy to post. And we certainly make use of this site for our own "quickie" research.

What's my point? None, really.
Peace!
