How to connect up a Stepped Attenuator

I bough one of those Stereo "cheap" Vishay Dale Attenuators that is a switched ladder type (cheap via Taiwan ebay)
I was thinking of using this in a monitor controller type box using one of the designs from around here...

Now the really silly question (although PRR states there are no silly questions if you don;t know the answer)
Where on the actual switch do I connect things up on?
ie I have to wires and I have from wires.... where ont he switch do I connect these too???

If it's set up as an attenuator, you just find it's 2x3 endpoints, and use it as a pot..?

BTW - if you buy them - buy them from the Taiwan guy - they go for £50 from the UK source - the bush is a bit short though...
