I have got this cable from Canford for sending DC from an external PSU to a EQ
http://www.canford.co.uk/commerce/productdetails.aspx?productid=34-941
THis is rated at 100V/3A - foil screened - has 4 insulated wires and a drain wire
Sorry for the simple question...
I am using 4 pin XLRs for this...
If I send 18v,0v,-18v down the cable how do I wire up the 4 pin XLR?
Do I use the drain wire for the 0V or just use the normal insulated wires.

uk,
If it were me, I would run the 0V through the other two insulated wires and tie the drain wire to the chassis of the PSU through the extra XLR pin and float it at the load. I don't think the shield is needed, but I'd use it since you have it.
