ampex 440c 1/2 inch 4 track

any one ever upgade the cards in one of these decks
I am aware of RTZ but he says he's not going to do another run of cards until later this year after he is done with his pre amp adventure.
anyone here know what Im talking about ?

I have tested earlier versions of the RTZ card. The output amplifier is certainly an improvement.

Is that the "Nightmare" model with all the transport issues?

i have a pair in my 1/2 inch 2 track and they sound excellent! bob is very friendly and helpfull too. he uses a lundahl xfmr on the repro card, metal film resistors and wima and panasonic caps. i was pretty amazed at the increased bandwidth after i put in the repro and record cards.
