According to the RCA tube Receiving Manual, the ECC88 has a peak plate voltage of +130v. So why in the Gyraf SRPP amp is it fed +250v? I imagine it can probably handle it, but why run it so hot.

Also, why is the heater voltage rectified? An ECC83 can handle 6.3v AC or DC.

I know some times this stuff is done for a reason, but other times it just is. If it isn't crucial, I'll just use a Hammond 269AX.
 
Ok, The heater DC makes sense, but I still don?t get the 250v B+ on the ECC88 plates. The ECC88 is a twin triode even though it looks like 2 tubes on the schematic it is really one. Do the two plates suck that much voltage that they?ll bring then down to +130v?
