'not sure if this goes here or in DB... but here it is

Has anyone ever used these? I thought the LED would light when depressed but, it just stays on. I think the cap colors are supposed to change...

I have a green led and green cap.

It's just a switch with the LED brought out to its own pair of terminals, right?

Generally, unless otherwise specified, they leave it up to you to provide your own means to turn the LED on/off.

I think you are suppost to provide the switching for the LED. It isn't part of the switch assembly already. I have run into a few switches like that, although I haven't used this switch.

(edit) it seems dave mentioned this as well. (/edit)

Thanks for all the replies everyone!

I was using SPST. 'Guess I should use the DPDT and use the new terminal for the LED's voltage. Damn! more $! anyway, I don;t know why I thought these switched the Voltage terminals as well, it just seemed to make sense -I wonder why they don't make them that way. How big of aa deal is it to run DC close to audio like this? It seems many do it with no problem.

BTW -has anyone tried combining different LED colors with CAP colors?

Wouldn't a DPDT relay sort you out?
Have a look at this thread - especially the PRR schematic
I have experimented with using a SPST illuminated pushbutton in in place of DPDT and 4PDT circuits - by using a DPCO and 4PCO relay

I drive the LED in the pushbutton and the relay coil from an additional regulated +24v supply (I don't think you need to regulate the +24V - but I am not qualified to comment on that - but it's easier ofr me to use existng PSUs)

Well, some applications require the light to be seperate, think about a machine control. You press the play button, but the machine doesn't start playing until it get synced, so the light flashes until play and goes solid then.

Cool idea and thread uk. maybe I will use it for future designs when I get a better understanding. For now it just seems like too many wires running through my box.

In my application I am using the switch to insert a cap across a resistor on the AM16. This provides a 10dB boost mod for the AM16s. Looks like 2 wires for relay supply/return and 2 wires. Plus I would probably print up a small PCB for the Relay. The cool thing with the wiring is that I could just use any old cheap ribbon cables or something.

Maybe I'll do this with some Spectrasonics pres I plan to rack.

Cool... Does the LED replace the need for a Diode across the Relay?

I think I've got it now, I was a little confused. All I need to do is Run the +VDC to the LED and to the +terminal on the Relay. Then run -VDC to one of the Switch's poles. Then run the other pole of switch to the -LED/anode one switch and the neg. of relay and wire up my realay's poles accordingly.

I think I'll just hotglue or cable tie the Relay to the AM16's metal side. Easier than I thought. Electronics is COOL! :thumb:

What kind of relay? I will be using Mouser..... I am looking at Axicom
http://www.mouser.com/catalog/624/1232.pdf

all I need is a switch that is normally unconnected to main pole and then latches and stays connected to another pole to short the connection.

I hate to nudge, but san someone help me with this relay. There are options I don't undertand, like polaarized, dual coil single coil, latching...

Thanks Again.

I am not a specialist
But I just bought normal Omron G something series relays
Have a look around the different projects for relay examples and relay circuits
Peter Purpose has a circuit posted here someweere using relays for the 48v, Phase and Pads
Fabio uses relays on his API312 for the same thing (I think)
Aromat and Omron spring to mind

Thanks UK and others, I used UKs schem and it worked like a charm. Well...other than my realy leg busting. Thanks a bunch.
