I've got a spare Altec power amp that I would like to use as a headphone distribution amp. I've seen a bunch of circuit designs on the web for running headphones from a power amp but none of them incorporate volume controls for each set of phones.
Does anyone have a design that will run a bunch of headphones from a power amp with a volume pot for each set of phones?

yeah
you get that
what is the impedance of the headphones ?
do you need stereo ?
find the lowest impedance High power Potentiometer you can.

you might find 200 ohms wire wound 5 watt ... as an example
then you will want log tapper
??
stereo L-pad for Architectural Speaker Distribution ... perhaps ?
CAR sound ....

test it with your distribution box and Headphones ... Before ... you buy multiples !!

I'll have to look into the impedence of the phones. With tracking headphones I tend to sacrafice quality for ruggedness and price, they're going to get trashed either way. Anyhow, I'd like to end up with a dedsign that will work with a wide range of headphones.

Mono is easier to deal with

obviously I would DIY something
and I did ... passive headphone distribution
No independant volume control COS I didn't want then to have that

they ALL get the same Mix and the same volume ... ... tough,
life wasn't meant to be easy

However ... same idea with the pots as I mentioned above
you will need to experiment with your headphones

I was in Altronics today and walked past one of these
http://www.altronics.com.au/index.asp?area=item&id=A2386
no idea what is inside but in might have enough bits for a good start
probably too expensive for the purposes here

good luck
