Has anyone had a custom power supply transformer built? I am wondering what the typical min order size is and how certain companies are with small orders.

Yes I've had custom transformers made for my tube power amps in the past. From this link you can order as many as (1) at regular price

You might want to search the fora at ax84.com, 18watt.com and diyaudio.com for 'handwound' before ordering.

EDIT:
There is a thread at the lab already about Handwound Transformers: http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=5243

Fo' shizzle!

Kinda interesting how their site says something about being overwhelmed with orders and shit...

Peace,
Al.

Interestingly, their domain name expired this past Monday (Feb 13), according to a whois lookup. I see now that domain has been grabbed by one of the "collectors".

Man, I really wish I knew a person in that business of collecting dead domain names just so I could kick them in the nuts!

Same goes for patent collectors.

Peace,
Al.

Like the characters who set up a Korean porn site on the .com equivalent of our radio station's URL (we're a .org in real life) along with a banner across the top offering to sell the domain back. Luckily our station manager's sense of humor is such that she would send people to look at the site just for grins.

Peace,
Paul

I decided to check the various "BrianRoth" extension names.

Interestingly enough, there is a BrianRoth.net guy who does voiceovers! One of my former tasks.

The rest of the possibilities on my name are open-game for the pornsters! LOL I am NOT gonna register all of them, either. So, if you see a "sex with live chickens" website with my name, be assured I am NOT behind it!!

Well, besides the "vultures circling", I wonder just how committed the "handmade" folks were to running a viable business since they allowed the domain to lapse into the hands of a "collector".

Hell, GoDaddy charges $8 or so, and there would still be no need to pay for a hosting site.

I once was interested in Handmade for some trannies to recreate an Ampex 350 power supply, but they have been "dead in the water" for months, with a message that "we are SO backlogged we are no longer accepting orders".

Gus, hopefully they get it right the first time, otherwise you go back and forth.
Be sure and tell them current draw so they can figure in regulation.

If you need something real special, and have $$$, Doc Hoyer at Audio Transformers can build it. He does a Fairchild 670 pwrtrans, which is cool.

Doesen't have the orig. Chicago black cans.
