just wondering how this sounds, and if its worth it to build it. The price is certainly right - I think the whole thing rings in at about $150 for a nice sounding small amp.

I would eventually want to put it into a combo with a speaker - or maybe just use it with my single 12" mesa cab.

I just want something portable and small that I can use for pedal steel, and practice. Anyone have any advice while I shop around for information? I know some of you guys must have experience building guitar amps...

That is an older Princeton circuit, which features a single 6V6.
Amost a Champ, if you think about it.

I would go for the "normal" princeton, push-pull 6V6's.
And you definately want a reverb pan for the Curly Chalker stuff.

Sometimes it's cheaper to go into a pawn shop and mod something that sells for cheap.
150 will go a long ways in a pawn shop.
You go in, you get your cabinet, you get your chassis, you get
your speaker already mounted, you get your transformers and
tube sockets.
All thats left is to get out the soldering iron and make it your bi-atch.

Missed out on an old Harmony with 7189's with the vintage Jensen.
Sweet as heck and gone by the time I got back with the cash.
I hate when that happens.
hmm - interesting idea.

do you have a schematic for the push pull princeton?
Try the fender field guide - they have shematics and layouts for almost any Fender amp.

Look at the black and silverface princetons (pretty much the same circuit).
But I would suggest upgrading to a beefier output transformer if you end up building one.
