Hi,
I have a Roland JV880 rack mount synth (circa 1993) that I use on a regular basis. After giving many years of good service the lcd on the front has packed up. I use this bit of kit a lot and really need to get the display working
again.

Having looked inside the unit it uses what looks
like a standard pcb with a 2x24 LCD on it and it
attaches to the main board by a small ribbon cable.

Any ideas on where I could get a replacement?

Cheers

Replacement is very dependent on the driver ic on the back of the lcd...don't know this one...
Roland is definately the best partner to speak with, very helpful, fast and they have even oldest parts of their machines in stock mostly.

Sorry that i can't help further.

Kind regards

Martin

ribbon cable huh? that begs to be replaced or at least thoroughly checked out. I just found an old casio CZ-101 in the trash and it looked like the LCD was toast, but it was just some broken connections on the ribbon cable.

most LCD displays now conform to the HD44780 industrial standard - but in 1993 who knows - and its not unlike Roland to use something proprietary.

check the cable - check the power supply - then call Roland about a part.
