I just Purchased FrontDesigner 2.0 http://www.abacom-online.de/uk/html/frontdesigner.html

I'm having a lot of fun with it, but sometimes it's hard to visualize a panel without knobs and switches. So I was wondering if anybody has developed a library of knobs, switches and what not?

Cheers,

I hear ya. I think I finished my design (for now) but it was a real pain in the ass to put the text around the rotary attenuator for 3db steps of attenuation on a 12 possition rotary switch. I would think that kind of thing would be real common and was surprised when I perused the library not to see something to fill the bill. I ended up having to create 12 lines each with 30 degrees more angle than the previous, moving them so they were centered on the hole, putting a circle to represent the diameter of the pointer of the knob, all this so I knew just where to put the text for each step of the switch, then delete the circle and lines. At least I was able to group them to step across the faceplate for 10 preamps. The drafting tools could use improvement. But hey, by hook or crook I got it done and it is nice to have software to do it.

[/quote]Can this software export to a cad file? (dwg extension)

It can only be exported to .bmp or .emf (enhanced meta file). You can then open it up in Corel Draw and convert to .dwg.
